ABOUT ME
Dana is an Instructional Designer and communications liaison for the Curriculum Team at NDTC. A jack-of-all trades in the world of copy, she has vast experience developing and managing content for diverse audiences and platforms. Dana works with experts and leaders in political communications to create curriculum for NDTC’s Online Academy and Staff Academy. Dana holds a BA in English and Creative Writing from The University of Kansas and an MA in Victorian Literature from Exeter University, UK. She spent over a decade in publishing before moving to a career in instructional design and content development for industry leaders.

SENIOR CONTENT DEVELOPER | NIIT
Sept 2015-November 2019
Managed the creation of print and web-based content for learning development at GE and USAA.


FREELANCE EDITOR AND COPYWRITER
January 2015-Current
Follett School Solutions (2019 to present)– I work with the marketing communications team to provide copy for ads, brochures, catalogs, landing pages, marketing emails, newsletters, product pages, and promotional videos.

Miriam Carey Content Marketing (2016 to present)- I work with Miriam Carey as a proofreader and content specialist to develop marketing campaigns for tech firms, manufacturers, and financial services.

eContext (2016- 2019)– I worked with the marketing department to edit and punch-up text for white papers, client-facing materials, and websites.

Quarto Group (2015-2018)- I proofread books in various stages of development while also working as a project editor for individual titles. As a project editor, I received initial materials from authors and artists, and prepared materials for the design team before seeing each book through the production process.


ACQUISITIONS EDITOR | SOURCEBOOKS
January 2013 to December 2014
As an acquisitions editor at Sourcebooks I acquired and developed content for the gift and calendar markets, creating a diverse list of products for customers such as Urban Outfitters, Cracker Barrel, Francesca’s, and Go! Calendars.

I managed the launch and re-branding of Anne Geddes with five new titles to anchor Sourcebooks Baby. Working closely with Anne Geddes and her team, we developed successful branding for adult and children’s titles, moving over 20,000 copies in their first year.


EDITOR | PUBLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL
May 2007 to November 2012

At Publications International, I produced children’s books, educational materials, and gift products while managing titles from concept to publication.


ASSISTANT EDITOR | ALBERT WHITMAN & COMPANY

August 2005 to May 2007
As an assistant editor, I contributed to the production of 30 titles per year for trade and library publications.


ASSISTANT EDITOR AND DESIGNER | REDAN PUBLISHING
January 2004 to March 2005
As part of the American team at Redan Publishing, I created content, Americanized existing content, and provided layout assistance for a line of licensed children’s magazines.
